The January

Hey guys and gals!

Finally i did it, here we have a new blog entry. I just write down what comes to my mind right now and i wont read it again, even not for correction. Maybe there are som parts missing and you have a lot of fun with all my mistakes. I don´t care ;)

A whole month is gone since the last entry and a lot of things happend. Everything starts with the last day of 2010, New Years Eve. A special day i never experienced in a foreign country. But hey, it seems that there is no difference to our culture in living and partying the finish of a year instead of the place, the weather and using fireworks. After sleeping till the noon we prepared a big meal (of course a braai) with all our housemates in PE. Having a few drinks, enjoying the BBQ and listening to good old house tracks we took off into the evening. A lot of people in one place having big one party :) Afterwards we got into the city and i met some good friends again. Where? In the "Aqua", The place to be in PE. A long night took us to another houseparty in the morning, marco was falling asleep already, but Willie, Mario, Muz, Jason and all the friendly people in PE carried on partying with me. I got to bed, well maybe at nine or ten, i don´t know exactly anymore.

We spent two more days in PE, having a good rest on new years day, watching TRON, playing some Paintball, a lot of PS3 till the third of January. Back on the Garden Route again we got to Jeffreys Bay, spending "some" money in the Billabong Outlet again, to St.Francis, right into the Heart of the Tsitsikamma to Storms River Village. On the evening we´ve been to Storms River Mouth watching the sunset. What a beautiful Place!

The next day we booked a Black-Water-Tubing-Tour on Storms River. As we got to the River we realized why its called that way, completly Black but absolutly clear. The weather could be described as hot and sunny. When i was laying on my tube i just thought i probably dream. Normaly at this time of the year i go snowboarding or whatever the winter conditions allow, but tubing a river, kind of crazy. We also jumped of some rocks out of the woods. I´m proud to tell you Marco did it too, good job mate! On the evening we got to the Water Falls back to Storms River Mouth. Rock-Climbing a waterfall without any securitys, ok maybe a little bit stupid, but no risk, no fun =)

No Risk, no fun was also the motto of the next day. On our way back to Cape Town we had to pass the Bloukrans Bridge again. Now there is something special about this Bridge. Its not only 216m high and the highest single-span-bridge in the world. It also offers the worlds-highest Bungee Jump. And what shell i say, i did it! Right in the noon my group of jumpers took of to the centre of the bridge right below the street. Walking there was already exciting but the view was incredible. Not if you don´t like heights, but suddenly everyones minds went crazy. Tied on a strong rope there was no possibility of moving or getting back. 5-4-3-2-1-Bungee and ...
I can´t describe what you feel in this moment. Your knees are like pudding and you just fall forwards. Reaching a falling speed up to 130 km/h heading towards the earth your eyes just try to arrange without success. Your brain goes crazy, your hearts pumps faster or stands still, i don´t know. Thinking about everything and nothing, just falling and then flip back and falling and flipping back again five times.
Completly driven crazy we had to head on to our next destination, Wilderness. We took a stop in Natures Valley a beautiful lagoon and stopped again at the Two Heads in Knysna. Again a beautiful place the locals told us. The call it the garden route, because they believe this place must look like or even is the "Garden of Eden". I simply have to agree! We spent the night in a beautiful hostel in Wilderness, called that way with a good reason ;)

The next day we took our last long drive towards Cape Town, passing Hermanus (took a swim in 10°C cold seawater), along the Marine Coast Road again. We reached CT in the evening hours without an accomondation. I tried to get us into Long Street Backpackers but fortunatly they were fully booked. Why fortunatly? Because it gave us the chance to stay in one of the most beautiful hostels in CT, the Penthouse on Long Street. I still love to come back to this place meeting all the people there in the Roof-Top-Bar. The Hostel is located on the seventh level over Long Street. An amazing view over the city towards Signal Hill and Lions Head. Not to hectic, but busy all the time. There is no better place to stay i recommend to you ;)

The last day having the rental car we got to Cape Peninsula on a friday again. Penguins in Boulders, Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point, Hout Bay and Chapmans Peak. I knew this places already, but getting there is always amazing. Unfortunatly for Marco the Cape was partly in clouds. But it was a good day. In the evening i had to clean the car. For 100R i got a complet wash inside and outside. It took five carcleaners almost 1 1/2 hours to clean it. After 7800km on south african roads not really a surprise^^ In the evening we got to Mama Africa, a restaurant with all those specialties from south africa. After some Kudu, Springbok, Oystrich and even Alligator we were complettly done. But not to exhausted for having a long night out to the Assembly. What a crazy party.

On Saturday we hiked the Lions Head, the first time for both of us. I did it now three times and i still can´t get enough of this stunning view. A sunset on Lions Head is maybe the most romantic moment you can have in your live. Having a picnic there, drinking a glass of wine and your mind keeps dreaming away! On Sunday we simply took a city tour by bus and visited the waterfront. Sightseeing the easy way :) But it was Marcos last day, so why not doing it. It was still worth it!

On Monday morning Marco had to leave and i carried on with normal live. Normal live? Not me! Well, living one big party is what possibly Cape Town is to the most of the people visiting the Mother City. And the city got me. The last 3 weeks could be described just in this few words and i don´t want to write to much about it. I just pick those funny things that i did. I´ve been to the District Six Museum and the South African Jewish Museum. I visited Robben Island, the former prison island, Nelson Mandela and all the political prisoners were sent to in the time of the Apartheid. I attended a Double-Soccer-Header two times now in the World Cup Stadium, hiked the lions head a second time with all my friends here in CT for a Full-Moon-Hank and the last weekend it took me for 3 days to the namibian dessert and the Fish-River-Canyon.

But the last week was kind of special to me. Having party from monday to thursday, i also met three people arriving and leaving CT nearly the same time. We went to the Cape Point again, hiked the Lions Head and attended a Double-Header-Soccer on friday evening. On Saturday i hiked Table Mountain with one of them, the special one ;) Sometimes you have those feelings you can´t describe and you don´t want to miss them anymore. But everyone of us has to carry one, even if it means to break up with someone after a short spell and you suddenly realize that this short period you have is not enough. Living this way is not as easy and funny as it always seems and i´m that glad to meet people who let you enjoy your time and make this time that special to me. Maybe my best self-awereness i had here and the best week in South Africa.

But as i said, everybody has to carry on and thats what i´m going to do now. I have four more weeks in SA still left. I have to use them ;)

To everybody, have a nice February, i will write my next blog entry at home, so you don´t have to look everytime after it =)

Sincerely Sven!
